One of the standout offerings that truly captures the essence of KuierKos is the hand-crafted steak pie. As described by Nobbylon JW, it evokes memories of mum's kitchen and is simply the best pie you’ll find. And let’s not forget about the quintessential malva pudding—a sweet delight that invites you to savor each spoonful, much like the cherished recipes passed down through generations.
On my visit, I couldn't resist indulging in the assortment of baked goods alongside a perfectly brewed red cappuccino. The fresh, buttery warmth of the traditional Hot Cross Buns paired beautifully with rich butter, igniting a wave of nostalgia for the quintessential flavors of home.

“ Picked up Peppered steak, lamb and chicken pies plus hot x buns yesterday. Had a steak pie, mash and veggies last night and honestly…..best pie I’ve had, reminded me of the ones my Mum used to make. Will definitely be ordering again in a couple of weeks! Had a Hot x bun to finish with loads of butter, tasted like I remembered back in the UK. Great shop. Nice people. ”
“ Walking into Kuier Kos, I felt like just another Rue, but by the time I walked out, I was le Roux—a transformed and deeply satisfied human. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, as if the place had been expecting me all along. Let me tell you about the steak and kidney pie: it wasn’t just food; it was an experience. Each bite tasted like "more," but alas, my belly simply couldn't manage it. Perfectly seasoned, hearty, and filled with comfort, this pie alone is worth the visit. Before leaving, I grabbed some biltong to go, and let me tell you—it’s dangerously good. I had plans to stretch it out over a few days with my partner, but honestly, the self-control might not last. All in all, Kuier Kos is an absolute gem. From the food to the friendliness, everything about this place feels like home. If you’re looking for a spot that feeds both your stomach and your soul, this is it! Highly recommended. ”
“ Great little home-Away-from-Home discovery on our bike ride! Thanks Andreas and team for the „bederf“. ”
“ A definite must for all South Africans living in the Netherlands but also anyone looking to experience a small sample of South Africa foods and drink. They are a speciality store that sell some imported wines, drinks and snacks. Furthermore the family owned shop works hard to prepare fresh South African meals and products available in-store or for delivery. The owners are always present and do everything they can to satisfy the wishes of every customer. I would highly recommend a visit to KuierKos. ”
“ I haven't felt more at home in years ! From the food to the service, this awesome shop has everything you might need with a traditional ZA spin. Fresh baked traditional foods are available while you are chilling ! Rusks with Coffee or a Red cappa (check) Range of biltong and boerewors (check) Spar-letta fizzers and Creme soda (you know it !) ”
“ What a treat to have this lovely shop and its lovely owners in the Netherlands! Always happy always friendly. Regarding the food - we haven't bought an item which we won't buy again. In short, the staples in our house are 1- thin boerewors, 2- rusks, 3- malva pudding and 4- droëwors. ”
“ There's nothing quite like good old-fashioned South African customer service. We walked into the store and immediately felt like we were exactly where we belonged. The store may be small, but as the saying goes, dynamite comes in small packages. Their food, both cooked and uncooked, is a straight 10. The baked goods are incredible—moist and spot on. I might just have to make the 3 hours drive from Germany at least once a month to enjoy it all over again! ”
